If you plan to come on a hunting in South Africatrip, you will need to get a visa which will be issued at the airport. There is no cost involved. Permits and licenses must be arranged, but we will assist with that. You will need a passport that is still valid for three months on arrival. We don’t offer hunting in South Africa trips in malaria areas, although preventative treatment may be required if you plan on hunting in neighboring countries as well. It is however, a good idea to bring mosquito repellent along. To get here from Europe is not a problem as there are daily flights from international airports such as Zurich, London, and Frankfurt. There are also daily flights from New York in the USA.

Suggestion on what to bring for an African Hunting Safari:

  • Neutral color hunting clothing or camo.( x3 sets should be enough)
  • Casual camp wears.
  • Raincoat.
  • Hunting hat or cap.
  • Sunglasses.
  • Comfortable hunting boots.
  • Warm jacket or sweater.
  • Toiletries.
  • Personal medications.
  • Odorless sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 20.
  • Binoculars.

  • Rifles can be rented from outfitter on request.

Suggested Hunting Rifles and Calibers:

For plains game hunting any rifle in the .30 caliber range fitted with a scope should be adequate for all hunting conditions.

If you intend to hunt dangerous game a minimum caliber of .375 is required by law. The maximum allowed rounds of ammunitions per caliber in the country are 200.

The most important thing is for you to be comfortable with your rifle and to spend some time at the shooting range before the hunting safari.

Upon your arrival at the lodge the Professional Hunter will take you to the shooting range for assistance in sighting of the rifles and scopes.

Firearms are imported on a temporary permit called the SAP 520, we will assist you to fill out the form correctly and it can also be downloaded from the website. There are no costs involved for this permit.

Minimum recommendations for Compound Bows

  Draw Weight Arrow Weight
Small Game 40 lb 400 grain
Medium Game 70 lb 550 grain
Dangerous Game 80 lb 700 grain
